"From time to time, an extraordinary comic appears. A comic that hits straight to the heart, going far beyond the genre boundaries. A comic with a message, a comic with a story, a comic full of emotions. And this is that comic. Difficult and beautiful. [...] If you were to get convinced by this literary medium, there might be no better opportunity. [...] The images (it's hard to call them just pictures) are kept in subdued colors. Absolutely no loudness, browns, beiges, black and white, stripes, and snow. These images are amazing, drawn completely differently than what we usually see in comics, with sensitivity, a kind of delicacy, but also with extraordinary boldness."

"‘Bread of Freedom’ is a gem among works that are far from historical truth, and the information presented in them is cheap sensationalism that naive readers fall for. [...] The author demonstrated incredible sensitivity and insight, without which telling the story of the camp past is very difficult."

"The composition of the comic, usually divided into panels and frames, breaks away from clichés."

"It’s clear that the author’s intention is to evoke reflection, not to overwhelm the reader with a mass of terrible details."

"Piechnik wove giant mechs into the story about Siberia, representing both invaders and allies. However, he did it in such a thoughtful way that the reception is truly effortless. It seems perfectly natural that these robots are here. This way, the album not only gained in dynamism but also in accessibility for today’s youth, who are so surrounded by such elements. “Siberia. My Story” is undoubtedly a comic worth recommending. The harrowing eyewitness account of deportation to the "end of the world" combines both realism and interesting threads full of dynamism and emotion, all enhanced by heart-touching drawings of a truly high standard."
